The University of Tasmania, the fourth oldest university in Australia, was founded on 1 January, 1890. A member of International Association of Commonwealth Universities, the University of Tasmania offers a wide range of courses including Business and Technology through its two main campuses viz. Sandy Bay Campus in Hobart which has 13,000 students, and Newnham Campus in Launceston which has 6,500 students. The university also has another campus in the form of Cradle Coast Campus, formerly known as North-West Study Centre in Burnie. Not only offering a range of programs, the University of Tasmania is also into research works as the it has been engaged in Antarctic research by holding the secretariat role of the International Antarctic Institute.
