While applying for the Australian immigration visa, candidates are assessed on a points based system and need to score enough points to get through the initial screening. For example, a candidate applying for offshore Skilled - Independent visa has to score at least 120 points. If the applicant is unable to score sufficient points, he or she has to apply for a Matching Visa. An applicant with 100 points is placed within a reserve pool. Once the applicant is granted a Skilled - Independent visa, he has the freedom of living and working in any part of Australia and can take up any kind of employment.
