Are you heading for an interview? Whether you are a fresher or an experienced professional, you need to master a few interview tips to be an ace at the interview board. It is the interview preparation, rather than your academic credentials which will help you get your dream job. Here we discuss a few simple interview tips that will give your interview experience an added edge.
- Get your stuffs right. Remember to carry at least 2 copies of your resume, when you are heading for a job interview. You can also carry one or two copies of pass port size recent photo. Quite often, the receptionist or the reporting person might ask for a photograph. You do not need to carry original copies of your mark sheets or certificates, unless asked for.
- Punctuality matters. Make it a point to reach the interview venue, at least 10-15 minutes before the actual time. Most employers do not like candidates who arrive late.
- Clear clutter free communication is a winning tip for all interviews. Speak clearly and audibly at the interview. Answer all questions, maintaining eye contact with the interviewer. Do not scratch your head or look down, if you do not know an answer.
- Interview dress code for both men and women should be formal. Men can go for a conservative two-piece business suit in solid colors like dark blue or grey. They can also wear white full sleeve shirts with a tie. Women can wear a formal suit. You can wear a suit with a co-ordinate blouse. You can also wear knee-length skirt, teamed with a white or pastel shade top.
- Maintain a positive attitude. Remember your presentation skills will help you excel at the interview board, more than your credentials. Employers prefer a confident candidate ready to take up new challenges, rather than a diffident job seeker with a number of degrees and diplomas. You can carry a briefcase or folder, where you can keep your documents.
