New opportunities are also coming up constantly. The Tax Agent registration system has been recently reviewed by the Australian Taxation Office in association with bookkeeping and accounting industry representatives. A draft legislation is waiting for parliamentary approval in 2008, which will pave the way for creating a new class of tax agents – the BAS service providers, or BSP. A BSP would be registered and will be able to advice clients on BAS related matters and complete relevant formalities for a fee.
The draft legislation requires aspiring BSP professionals to complete either pf the certificate IV qualifications. Students wishing to become full tax agents under the proposed law would need an advanced Diploma in Accounting. So the employment opportunities are plenty if the right course is selected and completed.
From the course, the students will gain accounting skills, and expertise required to work in business operations.
